Sorry, kind of a long one.
On Tuesday we spent the morning at the Pacific Science Center playing in the toddler area because it was once again raining in the NW. Madi was having a Madi morning. She is one of the most expressive people I know. Probably the only smile on her face all morning. She was having the time of her life playing in this car. She loves buckling seat belts, this one was velcro so she could do it and undo it as much as she wanted. Emma in the helicopter yacking something to her sister. They love water, I need to get them a water table for the backyard this summer. While we were there a huge group of students came walking into the center. Many of the kids were wearing Meeker Middle School sweatshirts and it occurred to me that many of them we my students from five years ago. One of them came up and gave me a huge hug and when I pointed out the girls, she ran into the toddler area and started playing with Emma. It was cute. After getting drenched at the water table we had to have a WT moment and go shirtless. Katie set Emma next to Madi so I could get a picture and Madi made it perfectly clear she was not happy with Katie doing that. This picture makes her skull and crossbones Vans even more fitting. Emma's pants were so wet she could barely get down the slide. Back in the car, thankfully I had the girls' sweatshirts. They don't have shirts on under those, but at least they have clothing on. Emerson is the only person Madi would share the car with. If any other kid came near her she gave them the stink eye. Finally, I had to pull her off of it and give some other kids a turn. Madi's first public melt down. She was sobbing.
After getting home and having a nice long nap all was better in Madi's world. The weather cleared up enough for the girls to play outside a little bit. Emma discovered she could get under the deck and play in the dirt. But then couldn't figure out how to get back out. (The deck has since been blocked off.) We had to go inside and get cleaned up. I stripped Emma down and got out the stool to wash her up. Standing on the stool and playing in the water is a huge hit so Madi had to rip off her clothes and climb up too. Love those buns. Washing our faces. Washing my sister.
