Pacific Science Center

Yesterday was a cold and wet Northwest spring day so we decided to meet some friends at the Pacific Science Center for playtime.  They have a great toddler play area and the girls loved watching the butterflies in the butterfly house.  IMG_7692 IMG_7744 IMG_7614  IMG_7751 IMG_7598 IMG_7572 IMG_7653  IMG_7640 IMG_7768 IMG_7774 IMG_7772

A Sunday Stroll

Last week while I was in Vegas and the girls were with Nana, Chad discovered a beautiful hike down to a beach with Papi in Edmonds.  This morning we got up and decided to go as a family.  We drove north to Edmonds to the park then loaded the girls into the carriers and made our way down to the beach.  The hike is just over a mile each way through a beautiful forest with a little stream.  Once we got to the beach, Papi went swimming and the girls wondered around.  Everyone had fun, then we had to hike back up.  IMG_7352 IMG_7355 IMG_7370 IMG_7376 IMG_7406  IMG_7447 IMG_7430

Happy Valentine's Day

Kendra came over last night and watched the girls while Chad and I went to dinner and a movie.  Today Chad got up and went to the gym then came home with some Valentine treats.  He picked up some heart shaped donuts at Top Pot for breakfast and picked up some beautiful flowers for Madeline, Emma and I.  He is so good.  Other than that, we had a pretty normal day around the house.  Took a family trip to Costco, and went for a long walk with Papi.  IMG_7294 IMG_7287 IMG_7306 IMG_7322

Mommy's Little Helper

Emma has turned into quite the worker bee.  She loves to help around the house.  She loves to throw things in the garbage, help unload the dishwasher, bring you your shoes, get her jacket and shoes when it is time to go bye-bye, and her latest trick is feeding Papi.  The last few nights she has gone to grab Papi's bowl and gesture that it's time for him to eat.  She gets to pour the cupful of dry food into his dish.  Tonight she decided it was her job to hold his bowl and make sure he ate.  Thankfully Papi is a gentle, kind dog and doesn't mind someone getting that close to his food.  P1010752 P1010754

Katie and Emerson Heady were over last Thursday when Emma discovered the large bag of dog food sitting in the corner.

A Bump in The Night

Thanks for the landing pad, Nana (which now they can officially say).IMG_7195 IMG_7198 It's 2:00 am, daddy is out of town.  I thought I heard something go boom but then nothing else, no crying.  Thought I should go investigate and this is what was found; Emma fell out of bed, landed on the bean bag and stayed fast asleep.

Forgive Me

I JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH!

IMG_7191

This is last night.  I don't think they wanted to go to bed after the excitement of the Super Bowl so they sat behind the door and fell asleep.  I could barely get in the room.  Shortly after putting them back in bed, it was time for Daddy and I to go to bed.  Emma hit her head pretty hard on the granite in the kitchen and had a large goose egg, so we decided it would be better for all to have her sleep in our bed.  Apparently we have lost our status and are now second class.  Emma (aka Momma's girl) no longer wants to snuggle with us, she wants to snuggle with her sister.  As soon as we brought her into our room she got restless, after a little while I asked if she wanted to go sleep with Goo and she shook her head "yes".  I took her back to her room and laid her down next to Madi and she didn't make a sound.  So cute, and so sad.  Mommy is no longer #1.

This is tonight, and I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself.  I went to go check on them before going to bed and this is how I found them.  Sacked out both with their hands behind their heads.  I wish you could see their cute little feet dangling off the side but as soon as I took this picture Emma rolled over.

I hope this bond lasts forever.

A quick update on the transition to toddler beds at 18 months:

One of the best decisions I have made.  Last night was the only night they fell asleep on the floor and not in a bed.  Bedtime is almost easier, a lot less crying and they seem to fall asleep faster.  Nap time still needs to be separate, they just want to play together.  For some reason though, they get that bed time is bed time as long as they have each other.
